Style to Steal: Martha Streck

Could her hair look any more awesome underneath that hat? I love the texture. My favorite elements of this outfit are the details. For example, how she is wearing sheer dot tights under her cuffed boyfriend jeans.

Or, how her booties are essentially lace-ups - you can see them looping in and out - but done with leather instead of fabric shoelaces. I also love her retro sunglasses and I have wanted a pair like that for quite a while.

When I head to New York in  two weeks I will definitely be recreating this look. Here is an inexpensive way to nab her great outfit:

Style to Steal: Alana Zimmer

Alana Zimmer has walked for basically everyone. From Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton to Banana Republic and Lanvin for H&M. And not only does she rock amazing outfits on the runway, but she shows great personal style off the runway. Here is your way to steal her great style.

You can't really tell what she is wearing underneath that great double-breasted coat, so I've put this outfit with a white tunic top. If you're going to wear skinny leather pants, or what I've featured here as an inexpensive alternative - the American Apparel nylon tricot legging - I beg of you, wear something on top that covers your butt. It just looks more appropriate.

For the coat, look for a double-breasted one with menswear tailoring. Like I said, wear a long white tunic top, and a printed scarf like this fun one from Topshop. Wear short flat boots like these from Sam Edelman, black leather gloves, and carry a black quilted bag with a long gold chain to imitate Zimmer's style.

Style to Steal: Karlie Kloss

I totally love Karlie Kloss. I got to see her in person during the spring/summer shows and she has amazing personal style. I love her look here - totally cozy and yet still so pulled together and figure flattering. I did my best to find pieces that will create an outfit that is similar at a better price point.

If you are going to do something similar to Karlie and wear a sweater under a blazer (which is a great way to stay warm and is a flattering way to layer) I recommend buying the blazer a size up so you can comfortably fit a sweater underneath it. Also, this would look great with the blazer unbuttoned and a scarf in a complimenting color - like brown that matches your accessories.

Style to Steal: Julija Steponaviciute

I love this feminine and classic look. It is so simple, yet undeniably stylish. Here is an inexpensive way to recreate Julija's look.

Start with skinny black pants. It is hard to tell from the picture, so I am not entirely sure what material her pants are. Regardless, the pair I've featured is from Paige Premium Denim and they are corduroy. Corduroy is a great winter fabric for warmth so I highly recommend it, even if it isn't exactly replicating Julija's outfit.

I cannot extol the virtues of Equipment blouses more. They are so comfortable and flattering, and will create the great oversized and blousey look. They come in a large variety of colors, but for this outfit we are using the "Natural White."

Her tweed blazer in pinky-red takes what could be a very basic, almost boyish, outfit to a feminine and chic place. Do the same with this berry colored tweed jacket from Spiegal.

Finally, wear a pair of black ankle booties with a thick heel like these from Joe's Jeans. And carry a black bag with a chain-link strap. I like this one because the studs add a bit of edge to the look.

Style to Steal: Charlotte Di Calypso

My goodness I have been bad about posting haven't I? College just does that to you I think. Between the thirty-five page portfolio I have due next week and meetings until 10pm at night, my blog is often what I let slip. So anyway, I apologize for my hiatus, but I am making a commitment to myself to post at least twice a week. So to get restarted here, I will do another Style to Steal post as I have been having a lot of fun with these. They allow me to learn about new and different models, and I have become inspired by their clothing choices to update my own wardrobe. I keep a running list of things I want to buy, and Charlotte di Calypso makes me want some skinny black jeans to pair with my preppy basics. Also, don't you just want to be friends with her? How adorable is she? Well, if I can't meet her, might as well try to channel her style! So here's how you can recreate Charlotte's classic-with-an-edge look.

Style to Steal: Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova is definitely my model girl-crush. She has an amazing body that can both rock the Victoria's Secret runway and the runways in Milan. She also has an incredibly classic and flattering personal style that I respond to. As you can see here she has a mastery of proportions, neatly pairing a slouchy black tee with a cropped blazer. And instead of letting the scarf flow free around her, obscuring her fabulous outfit, she has tucked the ends into the scarf around her neck making an eternity scarf. This image captures a look of hers that I would steal right off her back, skinny jeans, black tee, blazer, and scarf. Totally love. Here are some items for your to steal her look as well.

Style to Steal: Theres Alexandersson

Finally, back to blogging. It's been a long two weeks of midterms for us here at college, so I apologize for my shift in focus away from the blog towards my huge pile of school work. A lot has happened in the fashion world in the last month - and by "a lot" I mean NY, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks! I have always loved seeing models' street style. As they are all forced to have their hair done, make-up done and clothes worn in a certain way for a show, often to all look the same, it is refreshing to see them in their natural go-to styles. The girl I would like to point out today is Theres Alexandersson, a newcomer to the international runway scene. But it looks like she has some staying power as she wore three looks in the Calvin Klein show in NY, and later she walked in Dolce and Gabbana and Jil Sander in Milan and Chloe and Lanvin (two of my personal favorites) in Paris. And exiting Jil Sander, she was caught in an adorable fall floral dress appropriately layered with opaque tights, a buttery leather jacket, and a scarf - a perfectly put together fall look. Here's how to capture Theres' fall style.
